On the commercial side, 1080p capable projectors are being used in scientific and engineering applications, architecture and photography. We don’t consider projectors with less than 1080p resolution, considering those lower to be more basic home entertainment projectors. We’ve just begun to see 4K resolution projectors – sometimes called Ultra-HD. Just about every home theater projector selling today for over $1000 in the United states offers native 1080p. Oh, 720p can be OK, but remember we’re talking large screens, projector owners can appreciate higher resolution far better than someone with a 50″ LCDTV. Let’s start with the home theater side: 1080p HD projectors are essential for enjoying the high definition picture quality that are produced in all major blockbusters today. ![]()
